Promoted Pins On Pinterest
Getting eyeballs on your offer is the single most important part of your business.
If you have no eyeballs, you have no potential customers.
Pinterest has become the leading way to get those eyeballs.
First it was Google, then Facebook and now Pinterest!
How to get started promoting pins
Set up a Pinterest business account
It’s free, if you already have a Pinterest account, you can simply switch to the business account.
If you don’t have a Pinterest account, you may want to focus on learning those rope first:)
Then get your website verified.
This may get a little frustrating, when I was verifying mine, for some reason it wouldn’t accept it the “easy” way, so I had to put the HTML code on my website.
If you’re not techy and that was Chinese to you, it’s possible, just more of a challenge for ya.
I was thankful for YouTube!
Yes, paid advertising is a new thing for Pinterest and you have to be approved first.
It took a few weeks for us to get approval.
Know what pin to promote
You never know what pin your audience is going to love until you get it out there.
Marketing is always a test!
It’s best if you have at least 1,000 followers to get a good feel.
Once you review your analytics to see which pin your followers liked the most, promote that one.
Or of course you can throw a pin up, promote it and see if it sticks:)
One note to take is to make sure it is on a relevant board.
You wouldn’t want to post a business opportunity on a dog grooming board because there are a variety of things you want to happen when promoting a pin.
Yes, you want them to BUY YOUR STUFF…of course!
But what about getting more “likes” and “repins”?
Your pin could go viral with everyone repinning it!
If you get lots of repinning, that means you get more eyeballs on your offer.
Then you get more clicks (at a very low cost I might add) and inevitably more sales!
So, to get started, head over to your boards and select promoted pins
That will take you over to analytics to select “Promote”
Select the one with the most “clicks” because that means they are going where ever you are taking them.
Unless you have far more people repinning, then choose that one.
Once you choose a pin, you’ll be taken to a screen to select who you want to see your ad.
When you type in a keyword phrase like “work from home” other suggestions will come up.
If they apply, include them all.
The 2nd part of that is to “Import Terms” in the upper right hand corner.
This feature allows you to put in more keywords by typing them in.
You’ve gotta make sure you put commas between the words or it won’t accept the formatting.
That part can make a girl a little cra cra!
Start out with at least 20-30 keywords, run the ad and figure out which ones are working the best and delete the ones that aren’t performing.
You will know based on the analytics.
Put all of the keywords in a spreadsheet to keep track of them and note which ones didn’t work out and obviously which ones did!
I keep ads in all English speaking countries.
It really depends on what you’re promoting and whether or not it’s offered in other countries.
Choose English if you only speak English, if you’re promoting something you have to connect with people.
Pinterest is primarily women, so you can choose women.
No need to select devices, just leave them on.
Lastly….
The Maximum CPC (Cost Per Click) bid needs to be at least 10 cents.
The Destination URL is where you want to send people to.
So if you want to send them to your website, put that link there.
If you want to collect emails and you’re using an opt-in form, put that one.
There is a sales funnel system called Lead Pages and if you’re using something like that, it provides a domain.
However, I want to encourage you to connect Lead Pages or whatever you are using to your WordPress website if you have one so the URL looks professional.
The Campaign name is something for you to keep track of, no one will see it but you.
Start and end dates is how long you want to run your ad.
If you want it to keep going until you say stop, then don’t put an end date.
Daily budget is just like it says, start out with $5.00 to see how it goes.
Then select “Promote this Pin”!
Why we do promoted pins on Pinterest
A little over 3 years ago I started a home-based business and the most important part is generating leads.
If you don’t have leads, you don’t have a business.
For awhile, we just promoted on Facebook and realized that some of our friends were getting kicked off and decided it was time to diversify our marketing efforts.
It’s whatcha gotta do to have a big business!
