Danger Of Success

Danger Of Success

Success can be very dangerous.

It sounds odd, but let’s look deeper for a second.

Success means many things to many people, but often what we see is people allow their temporary success inhibit them from long term greatness!

All too often people chart a path to accomplish a goal.

They work hard, they stay the course even when adversity arises,  and they achieve that goal!

This is an amazing feeling of accomplishment!

So amazing in fact that the the next logical human emotion kicks in and tells you, TIME TO CELEBRATE!

Here is when something interesting happens with success

It does not happen for everyone, but for many, this is where the wheels come off the track.

During the course of celebrating that triumphant moment of  accomplishment, they forget one thing: the next step.

At this point, many choose to sit back and take it easy marveling in the moment reveling in their success enjoying the fruits of accomplishment.

After all,  celebrating their arrival at that new accomplishment is certainly warranted action, right?

….And then it happens-

They sit there.

They’re stagnate.

They become lethargic.

They accept their current success as the pinnacle.

They choose to accept that THIS one success was THE success.

Most importantly, they forget to look forward.

They forget action moving forward.

They become complacent and happy with success as they used to define it.

Ultimately, they settle for single success and miss greatness.

Heck, I am guilty of this myself.

Before my wife became a superstar and rescued me from the corporate drag, I was guilty of this very crime!

I recall being promoted to VP of our local bank.

I was proud, I was “accomplished”, I had indeed “arrived”.

What I did not realize, was that I had arrived at the the rest area called “I just quit dreaming”.  I stopped trying to be more than what I had become.

The good news, is YOU CONTROL this completely!

Be very careful of your successes in life.

True greatness comes from a series of many small successes.

Set goals on tiers so that you can continue to strive to be more, to achieve more, to learn more, to be more, to do more.

Set your goals in such a way that one success thrusts you right into the plan for the next!

Celebrate andlook forward to the future.

Truly successful people know that  one success is merely a stepping stone to the next success.

They celebrate victories while at the same time, looking forward to the next challenge

Be careful your one success doesn’t lead to failure, or you might miss the greatness within you!
